UncertWeb logo: uncertainty enabled model web

WP2 - Chaining and discovery services under uncertainty

The models within the model web will be exposed using existing interoperable web service standards, such as the Web Processing Service standard maintained by the Open Geospatial Consortium. UncertWeb will extend existing interoperable services to permit their use in the uncertainty enabled model web. In particular we will add support for UncertML and developments in WP1 (link) to allow these services to deal with uncertain inputs and outputs. We will consider and address issues of discovery and chaining of web services in the model web context.

The key Open Geospatial Consortium services we will uncertainty enable are the Web Processing Service for access to models, the Sensor Observation Service for access to observations, the Web Feature Service for access to geospatial features, and the Web Coverage Service for access to geospatial coverages.

The work will coordinate with developments in other projects such as EuroGEOSS who are developing the model web concept in Europe and ENVISION who are addressing semantic issues in discovery and composition within the model web.
